Anglo American Steelmaking Coal is seeking an experienced Condition Monitoring Technician to join the Engineering and Maintenance team at Moranbah North Mine. This hands on reliability role involves monitoring surface and underground mining equipment, identifying developing defects and recommending practical maintenance actions to improve equipment availability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Using vibration analysis, oil and fluid analysis, inspections and technical data, you will work with maintenance, planning, reliability, engineering and operational teams across longwall, development, coal clearance, workshops and fixed plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete condition monitoring inspections and collect accurate equipment data.
- Analyse vibration, oil and fluid results to identify developing equipment defects.
- Assess equipment health and identify issues that may affect safety, reliability or production.
- Provide practical advice on repairs and maintenance requirements.
- Prepare clear condition monitoring reports for maintenance and operational teams.
- Create or support SAP work notifications for identified defects.
- Escalate critical equipment conditions and follow actions through to completion.
- Work with maintenance, planning and reliability teams to prioritise repairs.
- Support equipment failure investigations and root cause analysis.
- Identify repeat failures and contribute to long-term defect elimination.
- Maintain accurate equipment histories, monitoring records and asset health information.
- Support improvements to monitoring routes, alarm limits, measurement frequencies and reporting processes.
- Follow all site safety systems, standards, work instructions and statutory requirements.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- A mechanical trade, engineering qualification or another relevant technical qualification.
- Previous experience in condition monitoring, predictive maintenance or equipment reliability.
- Practical experience collecting and interpreting vibration analysis data.
- Experience with oil or fluid analysis.
- Experience working with underground mining equipment, fixed plant or heavy industrial assets.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and equipment fault-finding skills.
- The ability to turn technical findings into clear and practical maintenance recommendations.
- Experience using SAP or a similar maintenance management system.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate technical reporting skills.
- A sound understanding of isolation, risk management and safe maintenance practices.
- The ability to work effectively with tradespeople, planners, engineers and operational teams.
- A current Australian driver’s licence.
- The ability to meet site medical and fitness-for-work requirements.
Experience with thermography, ultrasound, online monitoring systems, predictive maintenance software or root cause analysis would be highly regarded.

- Permanent, full-time employment at Moranbah North Mine.
