CITIC Pacific Mining (CPM) operates Sino Iron, Australia's largest magnetite iron ore operation, located on Western Australia's Pilbara coast near Karratha. The fully integrated project encompasses a mine, a six-line concentrator, and a port terminal, transforming magnetite ore into a high-grade, premium export product. The site also features a power station and desalination plant, among the largest in Western Australia, and utilises the biggest haul trucks in the world.
The operation spans several technical domains including mining, ore processing, port terminal operations, power generation, and desalination. CPM's geographic footprint is centred at Cape Preston, south of Karratha, where it manages the end-to-end production chain from extraction to export.
