Senior HSE Advisor - Major BESS Project - DIDO/FIFO – Chinchilla
UGL is a leader in Australia's energy transition, delivering large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects across the country. We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support delivery of Stage 3 of the Western Downs Battery Energy Storage System near Chinchilla.
UGL Energy and Industrial has been selected by Neoen and Tesla to deliver Stage 3 of the Western Downs Battery. The project involves the installation of Tesla Megapack units, and the scope includes site works, high voltage infrastructure, control facilities, and full testing and commissioning.

About the role
Your first assignment will be supporting the Western Downs BESS Stage 3. Reporting to the onsite HSE Manager, you'll work closely with the broader project delivery team to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance across all site activities.
This is a hands-on role split between the field and site office. Success in the role comes from being visible on site, supporting safe work practices, providing practical advice and ensuring consistent application of UGL's HSE Management System.
Key responsibilities
- Provide hands-on day-to-day safety support across site activities.
- Support pre-starts, toolbox talks and on-site safety conversations.
- Complete regular site walks and inspections to maintain safety standards.
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
- Manage HSE documentation, reporting and compliance requirements.

About you
- Experience in a similar onsite HSE Advisor on renewable energy construction projects.
- Comfortable working a DIDO/FIFO 10/4 roster.
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent).
- Strong site presence and practical approach to compliance and safety leadership.
- Ability to work autonomously while remaining highly team-focused.
